ArchiSculpture: Dialogues between Architecture and Sculpture from the 18th Century to the Present Day is an exhibition catalogue that examines the difficult but strong relationship between building design and sculpture. As the editor and exhibition curator Markus Brüderlin writes in his introduction, “sculpture has alway adopted elements from architecture, and architecture has always utilized the forms and structures of sculpture”. The book is the catalogue for an exhibition that was on display at Fondation Beyeler between 3 October 2004 and 30 January 2005.

The book contains contributions by Markus Brüderlin, Friedrich Teja Bach, Werner Hofmann, Walter Kugler, Marie Theres Stauffer, Philip Ursprung and Viola Weigel. There’s also a transcription of a roundtable discussion with sculptors and architects about the topic “Is architecture becoming sculpture?”. The list of exhibited works include projects by Etienne-Louis Boullée, Mario Botta, Coop Himmelblau, Gustave Eiffel, Antoni Gaudi, Frank O. Gehry and many others; and the art pieces are by e.g. Georges Braque, Salvador Dali, Christo, Naum Gabo and many more. The catalogue also covers the installation pieces that were commissioned for the exhibition. ArchiSculpture is richly illustrated with photographs of art pieces, scale models and and actual buildings.

The copy in stock is in very good condition. There is only some slight yellowing on the edges of the pages.
