This Architectural Guide Helsinki Espoo is the 2nd edition of the well-designed and popular guidebook that leads you to buildings and projects in the Helsinki region from 1917 to the present day. The book has been compiled by Ulf Meyer and it contains further contributions by Cornelia Dörries, Douglas Gordon, Laura Kolbe and Heikki Mäntymäki.

The contents have been divided by location: central Helsinki (the Kluuvi area around the Central Railway Station, Kamppi, Etu-Töölö, Kruununhaka, Katajanokka, Kaivopuisto, Punavuori and Ruoholahti); the old suburbs and districts outside of central Helsinki (from Kallio to Lauttasaari, Kulosaari and others), and the eastern districts of the city of Espoo (Otaniemi, Tapiola and Keilaniemi). Besides richly illustrated and professionally written project descriptions, the book also contains Laura Kolbe’s illuminating introduction to the atmosphere of Helsinki architecture, Douglas Gordon’s and Heikki Mäntymäki’s analysis of the by urban developments of the Helsinki region as well as the short biographies of Eliel Saarinen, Alvar Aalto, Viljo Revell, and Heikki and Kaija Siren written by Cornelia Dörrier.
