Architektur & Wein by Andreas Gottlieb Hempel is a monograph of architecturally interesting wineries in German, Switzerland, Austria and South Tyrol area. The book presents 42 selected wineries where the art of architecture and the art of wine-making come together in a seamless and inspiring manner. Architektur & Wein was published by Callwey in 2010; it has German text and rich illustration of color photographs and architectural drawings.

The book explains the principle design of each of the presented wine-making facility and also describes the producer’s wine-making philosophy, their history and the details of their products. There is also an interview between Michael Graf Goëss-Enzenberg, the owner of the esteemed Weingut Manincor vineyard, and Walter Angonese, the architect of new buildings at the premises, about the special demands and possibilities of winery architecture.

According to the German blurb on the back cover, “Einen guten Wein geniesst man am besten in einem stilvollen Ambiente, das zugleich Aushängeschild des dargebotenen Weines ist” [A good wine is best enjoyed in a stylish ambience which is simultaneously also the flagship of the wine offered].
