Built in USA: Post-war Architecture (eds. Henry-Russell Hitchcock and Arthur Drexler; The Museum of Modern Art / Simon & Schuster, 1952) is a follow-up to the Built in U.S.A. 1932–1944 and tracks the development of the International Style and mid-century modernism in the US.Featured projects include, for instance, Alvar Aalto’s Senior Dormitory, Charles Eames’s Case Study House, Walter Gropius’s Harvard Graduate Center, Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House, and many more.

The battle of modern architecture has long been won. Twenty years ago the Museum was in the thick of the fight, but now our exhibitions and catalogues take part in that unending campaign described by Alfred Barr as “simply the continuous, conscientious, resolute distinction of quality from mediocrity – the discovery and proclamation of excellence”.
Built in USA: Post-war Architecture (eds. Henry-Russell Hitchcock and Arthur Drexler; The Museum of Modern Art / Simon & Schuster, 1952); excerpt from the Introduction by Philip C. Johnson.

The text is in English. The book is lavishly illustrated with black-and-white photographs and architectural drawings.
