Carlos Ferrater: Works and Projects offers a comprehensive survey of Carlos Ferrater (b. 1944 in Barcelona) and his architectural career. The book opens with a thorough interview that illuminates Ferrater’s design thinking and architectural approach to modern Mediterranean architecture.

The richly illustrated volume presents Ferrater’s key projects from the late 198os until the turn of the millennium. The showcased examples include, for example, the Rey Juan Carlos I Hotel (1989–92), the  Catalan Conference Centre in Barcelona (1996–99), the Botanical Garden (1989–99) and many more. The texts are in English.

Today, the architect is a strategist rather than a producer of forms. Besides, there’s no other possibility: in the presence of an ultra-specialized society, it’s necessary to act rather like a conductor of an orchestra.
