The Vernadoc projects are a series of seminars that study built heritage, the documentation of vernacular building and its preservation. The CIAV Vernadoc 2010 took place in Östmark, Sweden. This book contains the conference papers from the participating experts.
The papers deal with the traditions and history of the Finnish settlement in the Östmark region, vernacularism in Finnish architecture, measuring drawings of Östmark church and its comparison with other churches of the era, and the structures and typology of smoke cabins and saunas. The main theme is the open fire and smoke in various vernacular traditions. All the texts are in English.
The copy for sale is in great condition. Some of the edges of the pages have been slightly wounded, but otherwise, the book is as good as new.
