Contemporary Doorways: Architectural Entrances, Transitions, and Thresholds by Catherine Slessor is a visual survey over 45 examples of one of the most important element of any building: the doorway. The examples are from all over the world and all the examples presented in the book are by the world’s most renowned architects. These include Richard Rogers, Jean Nouvel, Norman Foster, Philippe Starck, John Pawson, Diller & Scofidio, Oscar Niemeyer, Juhani Pallasmaa and many others.

The book has been richly illustrated with colour photographs and some architectural drawings of the technical solutions. The contents have been divided into four chapters: Eclectic Entrances, Public Façades, gestural entrances (Outside In), and Transitions and Thresholds. The book also contains an insightful and highly informative essay about the architectural history of the doorway. The author Catherine Slessor is an award-winning architectural journalist and critic and the former editor of The Architectural Review.
