Devil-May-Care: The Nordic Pavilion at the 50th Venice Biennial 2003 presents the art exhibition that was on display at the Nordic Pavilion in Venice, Italy, in 2003. The curators of the show were Andrea Kroksnes and Anne Karin Jortveit from Norway, and the artists were Liisa Lounila, Kristina Bræin and Karin Mamma Andersson. According to Kroksnes, the exhibition title Devil-may-care relates to their artistic approaches of ‘practique sauvage’: “an undomesticated practice which is playful and ambivalent and moves wildly around in consecrated mainstream culture (p. 18). The theme of the Venice Biennale in 2003 was “Dreams and Conflicts” and the directing curator was Francesco Bonami.

Devil-May-Care presents the participating artists and their works in the show. The book also contains an introduction by Andrea Kroksnes, and essays by Mieke Bal, Irit Rogoff, Leena-Maija Rossi, Toril Moi, Siri Meyer, Sonia Hedstrand, and Anne Karin Jortveit. The book concludes with a retrospect of all the art exhibitions in the pavilion between 1962 and 2001.  The text is in English and the book has a rich illustration of the artworks and the Nordic Pavilion designed by Sverre Fehn in 1962.
