Lamu Town: A Guide by J. de V. Allen (Natural Museum Trustees of Kenya) gives an illustrated introduction to the history and development of the oldest inhabited town in Kenya. The book has no indication of the publication date, but it is presumably around 1970s–1980s.

The book expains the historical background of this unique settlement and analyses the town plan, architecture, sites and monuments, mosques as well as its special cultural features in Lamu. There is a fold-out map inside the back cover.

The copy in our stock is in good condition. The covers show signs of wear, but the stapled binding is fine and the pages are clean and tidy. The previous owner has signed the book on the front flyleaf.

We have obtained this title from a private collection and it came together with a number of other intriguing publications about African architecture and town planning. Please use our contact form to get in touch if you are interested in this topic and would like to see the full listing.
