Oskar Schlemmer (eds. Arnold L. Lehman and Brenda Richardson; The Baltimore Museum of Art, 1986) is a comprehensive exhibition book presenting the Bauhaus master artist in all his versatility.

Oskar Schlemmer was a protean figure of early twentieth-century modernism. His achievement is prodigious in the visual arts, in theater design and production, in pedagogy. Despite Schlemmer’s seminal role in what is now seen as the revolution of German art between the wars, his work has remained little known outside Germany, especially in comparison tot he international reputations of many of his colleagues from the Bauhaus era. For an American audience, this retrospective exhibition and its accompanying publication represent the first major opportunity to examine the paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints, graphic design, and theater conceptions that comprise Shclemmer’s prolific oeuvre.
Oskar Schlemmer (eds. Arnold L. Lehman and Brenda Richardson; The Baltimore Museum of Art, 1986), excerpt from Foreword, p.9

The text is in English. The book is richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs and both colour and black-and-white images of Schlemmer’s designs and artworks as well as sketches.
