Perspecta 17: The Yale Architectural Journal (The MIT Press, 1980) contains essays about the origin of architecture and dwelling. The contributions are by Il Filarete (1400–1469), Victor F. Christ-Janer, Jak Katalan, Werner Blaser, Karsten Harries, Kent Bloomer, David L. Leavengood, William Ferris, Clarence John Laughlin, Giancarlo de Carlo, Ralph Kirkpatrick, and Paul Lytle.  The issue contains, to name a few, an English translation of Il Filarete’s account on the Origins of Architecture, Karsten Harries’s analysis of Walter Gropius’s Bauhaus programme with the Dream of a Complete Building, and an interview with Ralph Kirkpatrick on concert halls.

The text is in English. The essays have been illustrated with photographs and architectural drawings.

The copy in our stock is in good condition. The pages are clean without any markings, but there is some age-related yellowing on their edges. The glueing of the binding is fine. The covers show some shelf wear, fading and signs of use.
