Simo Heikkilä (b. 1943) is a Finnish interior architect and designer best known for his experiments with wood.  The book Simo Heikkilä Works is the first comprehensive monograph of Heikkilä’s multifaceted production. The beautiful catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition Räppänä – Vent that showcased Simo Heikkilä and his brother, artist Jussi Heikkilä, in Jyväskylä Art Museum and the Alvar Aalto Museum between 3.6–18.9.2016.

Simo Heikkilä (b. 1943) is a Finnish interior architect and designer best known for his experiments with wood. His award-winning work includes furniture design as well as exhibition design and teaching. His collaborators include Finnish design brands such as Marimekko and Pentik as well as leading designers such as Yrjö Kukkapuro and Yrjö Wiherheimo. Heikkilä is also the founder of the international Alvar Aalto Design Seminars which has gathered a global audience in Jyväskylä, Finland every three years since 1995.

The book “Simo Heikkilä Works” is the first comprehensive monograph of Heikkilä’s multifaceted production.  The beautiful catalogue was published in conjunction with the exhibition Räppänä – Vent that showcased Simo Heikkilä and his brother, artist Jussi Heikkilä, in Jyväskylä Art Museum and the Alvar Aalto Museum between 3.6–18.9.2016.

The book contains expert introductions by Pekka Korvenmaa, Professor at the Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture, Department of Design and Culture, Anna Wiśnicka, researcher in contemporary design and design history at UKSW University in Warsaw, and Karola Sahi, architect and lecturer of design at Aalto University School of Art, Design and Architecture. In addition, Simo Heikkilä has been interviewed by interior architect Martin Relander. The book concludes with thorough lists of Heikkilä’s works and exhibition architecture since 1967.
