Curtis (b. 1948 in Birchington, Kent, England), an architectural historian, critic, painter and the author of e.g. Modern Architecture Since 1900. The Structures of Light exhibition was on display at the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä in 2007.

Structures of Light is the title for an exhibition that presented architectural photographs by William J. R. Curtis (b. 1948 in Birchington, Kent, England). Curtis is an architectural historian, critic, painter and the author of the seminal book of the history of modern architecture Modern Architecture Since 1900, first published in 1982. The Structures of Light exhibition was on display at the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä between 13 October and 25 November 2007.

Curtis’s photography examines our vision towards architecture through culture, place and time. The book draws upon images from his travels around the world and juxtaposes traditional architecture with contemporary masterpieces.
