Sustainability in Scandinavia – Architectural Design and Planning (Edition Axel Menges, 2018) is a new book about the Scandinavian approach to ecologically sustainable building. The book contains essays and project analyses and it is a result of extensive research and collaboration between Professor Ali Malkawi (University of Pennsylvania School of Design), Professor Marius Nygaard (Oslo School of Architecture and Design AHO), Associate Professor Erik Stenberg (Royal Institute of Technology KTH), and Professor Anne Beim (Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture KADK).

Sustainability in Scandinavia approaches sustainability from many diverse perspectives: energy, humanity, industrialisation and manufacture, material life cycles, history and heritage and much more. For the authors, Denmark, Norway and Sweden are the leading countries in sustainable design. The richly illustrated and informative book wants to share the Scandinavian ideas with a global audience.

The Danish Centre for Industrialized Architecture CINARK hosted a seminar in conjunction with the book launch. The video recordings of the keynote lectures are available on KADK website at kadk.dk/en/news/forelaesninger-fra-sustainability-scandinavia-seminar-nu-pa-nettet.
