Valerio Olgiati (ed. Laurent Stalder; Quart Verlag 2010) presents selected projects of the esteemed Swiss architect and architectural educator. The catalogue of works covers all major buildings and projects from 1996 onward, and it is divided in three categories: Buildings, Furniture, and Industrial Design. The book also gives a detailed account of Olgiati’s literary production, such as essays, articles and so forth. The catalogue is an unconventional architectural book composed as a sequence of large plates rather than a traditional bound narrative. According to the reviews, it presents Olgiati’s work through images, plans, and a continuous text that forms an “iconographic autobiography,” offering insight into one of Switzerland’s most distinctive contemporary architects.
