Walter Gropius und das Faguswerk (Verlag Georg D.W. Callwey, 1961) by Helmut Weber is a detailed analysis of Gropius’s acclaimed building. The text tells about the roles of the client, shoe manufacturer Carl Benscheidt, and Eduard Werner, the architecture first commissioned for the project, and Walter Gropius’s early career and his groundbreaking thoughts about architecture in the 1910s. The building, its architecture and construction, are explained in detail within the context of the ideals of early modernism and industrial building.

The text is in German. The book is richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs and architectural drawings. One of the unique features of this particular book is that some of the photographs are real photo prints attached on the pages.
