Zaha Hadid: Thirty Years in Architecture is an exciting monograph about the renowned architect, Dame Zaha Hadid (1950–2016) and her magnificent career in architecture and art.  The book was published on the occasion of an exhibition which was organised by Germano Celant and Mónica Ramirez-Montagut in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2006.

The book contains articles by Germano Celant, Mónica Ramirez-Montagut, Joseph Giovannini, Detlef Mertins and Patrik Schumacher, as well as an interview between Hadid and Alvin Boyarsky recorded in October 1987. The colour plates illustrate Hadid’s architectural development from the late 1970s to 2006 ranging from her paintings and other deconstructivist studies to completed buildings and design works.

Fundamentally one has to expose the idea that there is a modern culture and that it never came to full fruition. It’s not a matter of borrowing from here and there and blending it all together in a composite. Rather, there’s a stream of events, each of which is an experiment. In the end, all these projects are a kind of experiment. My own work tests the realm of possibilities. It never stays at the same point.
— Zaha Hadid in Alvin Boyarsky Talks with Zaha Hadid, p. 45.
