Abbeys of Europe by Ian Richards traces the long and fascinating story of monastic architecture. The book was published in the Great Buildings of the World Series by Hamlyn Publishing Group Limited in 1968.

The book presents twelve historical abbeys: Norwich, Mont St Michel, Fontenay, Fountains, Maulbronn, Poblet, Assis, The Certosa in Pavia, San Carlo Alle Quattro Fontane, Ottobeuren, Clewer, and La Tourette. There is also a glossary, an index and some suggestions for further reading.

The text is in English. The book has been richly illustrated with photographs and some architectural drawings.

Our copy in stock is in nice condition. The pages are clean without any markings, and the binding is fine. There is some age-related yellowing on the edges of the pages. The dust-jacket has some signs of shelf wear and use, and it is partly a bit edge worn.
