Carlo Baumschlager, Dietmar Eberle: Über Wohnbau – House-ing (Springer, 2000) presents the architectural ideology of housing design behind the award-winning architectural practice of Baumschlager & Eberle. The debate is coiled around an analysis of the concept of the Compact House (Das kompakte Haus) which is then studied against architectural examples of Baumschlager & Eberle’s designs.
The book has been edited by Liesbeth Waechter-Böhm and it has been richly illustrated with photographs and architectural drawings. The text is in German and English.
In the case of residential building you can’t just find an entire new motor, at best you can look for a few screws, but you have to find these first. That’s the difference.
Im Wohnbau kann man nicht gleich einen neuen Motor erfinden, man kann bestenfalls ein paar Schrauben nachstellen, aber diese Schrauben muß man zuvor finden. Das ist der Unterschied.
