Heerim 2010 Works – Sustainable Architecture as the Ecosophical Leader (ed. Soo Mi Kim; Heerim Architects and Planners 2010) presents works and projects by the Korean architectural company established in 1970. The book is a part of the office’s annual publication series.
The 21st century is the era of new media. With the development in communications, such as in the recent smartphone fever, people all over the world are now communicating real time. We have now come to a point where there are almost no physical barriers in communication. Heerim Architects & Planners, as a global architectural company, is also communicating real-time with clients and partners all over the world, and is working hard to complete inspirational architecture around the globe.
Publication is the oldest form of media created by human civilisation, and its purpose lies in communication. The ancient Greek agora and the Korean traditional yards show how people communicated in the old days. Yards, squares, and then media channels, including publication, played key roles in facilitating communication and connected humans to societies. Architecture was always at the heart of these places, and therefore played a key role in building the foundation for shared communities.
