Hautajärvi’s expert knowledge of Finnish architecture shows in the selection as well as in his carefully written introductions to each project. The book also contains an extensive essay about the cultural meaning, typological development and architectural history of Finnish single-family houses.
Finns have rapidly become urbanized, and the tradition of libing in urban high-rise apartment blocks is short.
