James Stirling – Buildings & Projects 1950–1974 is the precious, early monograph edited by John Jacobus published in 1975. James Stirling (1926–1992) was a British architect who had a massively influential career through the passing styles and trends of the Modernist era.

The book includes a chronological list of all Stirling’s works and projects until 1974 and a more detailed study of selected highlights. John Jacobus gives a thorough assessment of Stirling’s architectural approach in his critical introduction. The texts are mostly in English; the descriptions and captions in the selected project are also in German.

Please also see our listings of the Stirling monograph by Rizzoli and the Neue Staatsgalerie Stuttgart designed by Stirling in 1984.

The copy currently in our stock is published by Thames and Hudson. The book is in relatively good condition. The pages are tidy  and the binding are fine, but the dust jacket has suffered from some tears and edge wear. There is an inscription on the first flyleaf.
