The Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki is designed by American architect Steven Holl. The design is a result of an architectural competition held in 1992–1993 and it was opened in May 1998. This book is photographer Jussi Tiainen’s study of Holl’s expressive architecture.
The book contains an introduction by Tuula Arkio, the then director of the Museum, an article by Pekka Suhonen, architecture critic, and a few words by Steven Holl and his Finnish collaborator, architect Vesa Honkonen. Most of the pages are dedicated Jussi Tiainen’s superb photography. The book concludes with plans and sections and design credits and specifications.
The few texts are in Finnish, but the captions are in English. The book consist mostly of pictures: architectural photographs and drawings.
Our cloth-bound copies in stock are in good condition. The books has definitely been read, one of them even has an ownership bookplate and signature dated October 1998. There are no significant faults or damages, however.
