Learn for Life: New Architecture for New Learning (Gestalten, 2012) is a diverse collection of inspiring architecture of educational buildings and spaces that support progressive models of acquiring knowledge. The book presents new interpretations of kindergartens, schools, universities, libraries, educational centres, innovative offices, conference rooms, and laboratories. The book has been edited by Sven Ehmann, Sofia Borges, and Robert Klanten.
The included projects are from all over the world and their presentations have been lavishly illustrated with colour photographs. There is a concise introduction that explains the most recent developments in pedagogy and educational architecture, and a summary of the contributors in the end. The architectural firms featured in Learn for Life include leading names such as Anna Heringer, Coop Himmleblau, Tham & Videgård, Pipilotti Rist, Sou Fujimoto, Sarah Wigglesworth and many more. There are two contributions from Finnish architectural firms: the Vocational Training Centre in Sri Pou, Cambodia, designed by Architects Rudanko & Kankkunen, and the Kirkkojärvi Comprehensive School in Espoo, Finland, by Verstas Architects.
