Light Houses: On the Nordic Common Ground is the catalogue for the exhibition for the Nordic Pavilion at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, in 2012. The main curator of this Venice Architecture Biennale edition was Kazuyo Sejima, and the theme was People Meet in Architecture. The exhibition at the Nordic Pavilion showcased 32 Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian architectural teams and some of their key projects. The commissioner was Juulia Kauste from the Museum of Finnish Architecture, and the exhibition curator and designer was Peter MacKeith.
According to the curator’s statement, the idea of the exhibition was to ask the invited teams to provide a “specially designed and constructed conceptual ‘light house‘ appropriate in scale, form, and material to the Pavilion’s spatial atmospheric character, and resonant with the fundamental principles and sensibilities of each contributing architect or practice.” The catalogue displays the resulting creations. The invited architectural practices include ALA Architects, JKMM, Verstas, K2s, Avanto, Anttinen & Oiva, Hollmén-Reuter-Sandman, Tham & Vinegård, Atelier Oslo, Petra Gipp and many more.
The copy in stock is in very good condition, almost as good as new. We’ll ship it together with the accompanying leaflet with the presentations of the participating architects.
