The Architecture of Darbourne & Darke (Darbourne & Darke & RIBA Publications, 1977) is a handbook – or an interim report on their work – to an exhibition at the Royal Institute of British Architects Heinz Gallery 17 May – 29 July 1977.
The importance of the work of Darboure and Darke lies in that trilogy of housing estates, Lillington Street, Marquess Road and Pershore. This handbook demonstrates very clearly that, since the firm was established in 1961, it has developed a kknd of public housing that re-states particularly English virtues of domestic architecture.
