An Architectural Guide: Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen, Vantaa is the year 1990 edition of the handy architectural guide of the architecture in greater Helsinki area. The guidebook has been written by architect Arvi Ilonen. The pre-1970s contents in the book are based on a guidebook that was published by the Museum of Finnish Architecture already in the 1960s and 1970s.
The architectural sites in the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Vantaa are presented with concise factual descriptions, black&white photographs and some drawings and foldable colour maps. The book opens with three introductory essays about historical Helsinki, post-war construction in Helsinki, and the architectural development in the 1970s and 1980s in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
The copy for sale is an ex-library book from the Helsinki University of Technology, Department of Architecture library. It is in a relatively good condition: all the pages and maps are included. The covers show some wear and some of the corners of the map pages are slightly folded.
