Jussi Tiainen (b. 1954) is one of the most well-known photographers of Finnish architecture. His esteemed career in collaboration with leading Finnish offices has created an outstanding portfolio the images of which tell a stunning story of the visual language of modern architecture. Tiainen has a distinguishable photographic style and his working methods rely on the traditional artisanal techniques of photography.
The turn of the millennium marks the highlight of a new era of cool, late-modern, no-nonsense approach to building. Many of the award-winning offices are included: Helin & Co, Heikkinen & Komonen, Käpy and Simo Paavilainen, Pekka Salminen, SARC Architects, and much more. The introduction is composed of 4 short commentaries about architecture by artists Markku Hakuri (environmental art), Lauri Laine (painting), Raimo O Niemi (film) and Markku Toikka (theatre). The book is warmly recommended as a standard reference book for anyone interested in contemporary architecture.
