Das japanische Wohnhaus (Verlag Ernst Wasmuth, 1954; originally published in 1935) by Tetsuro Yoshida is a beautiful presentation of traditional Japanese housing. The book discusses the local climate and culture, and describes the general developments in house design as regards materials, room types and their requirements, layout design, and construction. The book also covers the basic elements of a house such as doors and windows, some decorative details, and the garden.
The book has German text, and it has been richly illustrated with black-and-white photographs, architectural drawings and images of details.
Our copy in stock is in nice condition. The cloth-bound cover is a bit faded and there is no dust jacket. The pages show some toning, but they are otherwise clean and tidy. The front flyleaf has the previous owner’s signature.
