From the Ground Up: Observations on Contemporary Architecture, Housing, Building and Civic Design (Harvest Books, 1956/1947) by Lewis Mumford is a small pocket book that collects Mumford’s Sky Line articles published for The New Yorker magazine between 1932 and 1947. The collection includes Lewis Mumford’s articles on the United Nations buildings, and the then controversial series on “The Roaring Traffic’s Boom”.
The book has English text; there are no illustrations.
The copy in our stock is in nice condition. The pages are clean without any markings, and the glueing of the binding is fine. There is some age-related yellowing on the upper edges of the pages, and the covers show some signs of shelf wear and use. The colours printed on the covers and especially on the spine are a bit faded.
