Japanese Style, by Suzanne Slesin et al. (Clarkson Potter, 1987), is a book filled with ideas and inspiration for studying the beauty of Japanese aesthetics.
The traditional Japanese way of life has long fascinated Westernerrs, yet only a few have ever had the opportunity to look inside Japan’s very private homes. Suzanne Slesin and Stafford Cliff, who in their previous, highly successful books have visited homes in England, France and the Caribbean, now present a stylish, sophisticated and often unexpected look at how interior designs express Japanese lifestyles today.
In almost 800 striking colour photographs, Japanese Style captures the diversity of modern Japan, allowing us a privileged glimpse into the interiors of a whole range of houses and apartments – from architect-designed contemporary homes to centuries-old farmhouses and inns – that represent the dual influences of tradition and change.
