Korundi: From a Post Bus Depot into a House of Culture (eds. Riitta Kuusikko and Sisko Ylimartimo; Lapland University Press, 2011) tells about the conversion project of the multifunctional Korundi art centre in Rovaniemi. The project architect was Juhani Pallasmaa and it was completed in 2011.

Architecture of Korundi combines structures, views and atmospheres of the old industrial building with the new parts of the art museum and concert hall. The aim has been an architectonic dialogue, in which both parties  the brick building from the wartime and modern concrete and steel architecture – have their own voices. In this collage, a working environment of bygone days and today’s cultural work also stand side by side.
