Landscape Architecture Competition for Kaisaniemi Park

Kaisaniemi Park is one of the historical parks in the heart of Helsinki. It was established in 1812, and since 1829 it has housed the Botanical Garden.

The landscape architecture competition for Kaisaniemi Park was organised by City of Helsinki and the Finnish Association of Landscape Architects, and it was implemented as an invited competition between 16 June and 11 December 2000. The competition aimed at finding high-quality, creative solutions for a new general plan which respects the park’s historic value.

The book is a competition publication, and it includes the programme, judging criteria and a general evaluation of all the six invited competition entries. The participating landscape architects were Jeppe Angaard Andersen (Denmark), Susanne Burger and Stefan Ticher (Germany), Eeva Byman and Ria Ruokonen (Finland), Michael R. van Gessel (Netherlands), Gretel Hemgård (Finland), and Jyrki Sinkkilä (Finland).

The book is a joyful companion to Kaisaniemi Park, landscape architecture and to competition presentation techniques. The item for sale is an ex-library copy in a beautiful condition.
