LSNNG: Stripped Frame (Listening Practice, 2023; Kuunteluharjoituksia: Riisuttu runko) showcases and discusses the results of an artistic research project by Kaisa Karvinen and Karita Rytivaara. Their work gives a critical look on the present-day demolition frenzy in Finland that has affected especially concrete architecture from the 1960s and 1970s. Contributions by Karita Rytivaara, Kaisa Karvinen, Louise Huba, Wessel de Jonge, Aleksi Lohtaja, and Ella Müller.
Modern buildings warrant sensitive treatment, time, research, specific maintenance and repair, in exactly the same way as the material heritage of earlier eras. In view of the current climate crisis, we should be demolishing and rebuilding our thinking, not our buildings.
