Morris & Company in Cambridge (Fitzwilliam Museum & Cambridge University Press 1980) is an exhibition book of Morris & Co’s influence on the city. The exhibition was curated by Duncan Robinson and Stephen Wildman.

Morris, Marschall, Faulkner & Co. was founded in 1861 because ‘the growth of Decorative Art in this country, owing to the efforts of English Architects, has now reached a point at which it seems desirable that Artists of reputation should devote their time to it’ (Prospectus, 1861). William Morris and his associates aimed to supply furnishings and decorations appropriate to the Gothic Revival. They depended for business upon such architects as G.F. Bodley, whose connexions with Cambridge introduced the fir to this city at an early stage. As a result, Morris & Company received commissions from Jesus College, Peterhouse and Queens’ College, and for Bodley’s new Church of All Saints, Jesus Lane. This book catalogues an exhibition held in the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1980, illustrating Cambridge’s debt to Morris & Company.

The text is in English. The book is illustrated with black-and-white photographs and art images.
