Malcolm Quantrill’s study Reima Pietilä: Architecture, Context and Modernism (Otava, 1985) is a comprehensive analysis of Reima and Raili Pietiläs’ unique architecture. The book has been edited by Roger Connah and Thomas Burkle. The book is a part of Quantrill’s three-part study on modern Finnish architecture.
This study offers the first comprehensive analysis of Pietilä’s ideas and buildings, but more than that it sets out to reveal what goes on in the architect’s mind, and how this process is translated through sketches and models into an architecture of great complexity and nerve-tingling authenticity.
