Interior Design – Uchida, Mitsuhashi & Studio 80 (Benedikt Taschen 1987/1991) presents a selection of Studio 80’s design projects and interior architecture. The studio was established by Shigeru Uchida and Ikuyo Mitsuhashi in 1981.
Designers and clients had always shared the process of decision making. By the end of the 70s, however, designers also began to develop innovative commercial strategies on their client’s behalf and to play an important role in urban development. Studio 80 was formed largely in response to this change in the role of the designer. In their highly acclaimed development of ta series of ‘Apita’ shopping complexes, in the planning of ‘Roppongi Wave’, and in the design of the Japanese Government Pavilion at Tsukuba Expo ’85, the different artistic streaks of each founder and the talents of their staff are clearly visible. Currently, they are extending their activities worldwide which include participating in Esprit’s shop development across the United States and planning Daniel Hechter’s commercial strategies in the Far-East. Their continuing work in Japan, on the other hand, has produced ‘Y’s’, ‘Le Club’ and Bushoan.’ In each work on e cannot fail to sense what Uschida calls the “priority of relationships.”

Our copy in stock is in very good condition. The pages are clean, no markings except for some small stains on the first flyleaf. The glueing of the binding is fine. The covers show only some minuscule traces of shelf wear.
