Reiner Lautwein: Vooruit (Editions Labor 1989) is an album of Lautwein’s photography of the historic arts centre of Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium. Introductions by Herman Balthazar and Neil Wallace.

The shots selected for this book form part of a body of photographic work on buildings of cultural interest in Flanders. I became acquainted with Ghent on a journey. The idiosyncratic architecture, plus the atmosphere and the people in the streets, inspired me to come to terms with the history of the city with some photographic statements. From the many historic buildings, I chose the Feestlokaal van Vooruit because of its architectonic variety and the ambience of its three-dimensionality.
–  Reiner Lautwein: Vooruit (Editions Labor, 1989), excerpt from Reiner Lautwein’s foreword.
