Workflow: Struktur – Architektur / Architecture – Engineering is a book about the crucial but sometimes difficult relationship between architecture and engineering. The book showcases and discusses experimental architectural projects where the intimate collaboration with the architects and the engineers have been especially successful, thanks to the input of the acclaimed German engineering firm Bollinger + Grohmann Ingenieure and their founding partners Klaus Bollinger and Manfred Grohmann. The selected projects include internationally acclaimed designs by, for instance, Coop Himmelblau, AS&P, SANAA, Gehry Partners LLP, Schneider + Schumacher, Toyo Ito and many others.
The book has been edited by Peter Cachola Schmal; the preface is by Peter Cook.
The text is in English and German. The book was published by Birkhäuser in 2004, and it is richly illustrated with photographs, architectural drawings, details, visualisations and other informative material.
